Congratulations to our DAIWA Champion category winners.  Our winners showcased the fishing in Mackay Isaacs.  From the Sellentin and Cornell Families who who showed that good fish can be caught in the middle of Mackay without all the latest technology, to Donavan Power who travelled wide and found fish everywhere he went and the O'Connor family that made the most of the weather windows to get offshore.

Our DAIWA Champions (left to right) - Donavan Power (Senior Estuary and Offshore), Cliff Cornell (Senior Freshwater), Riley Sellentin (Junior Estuary), Zaide Cornell (Junior Freshwater),  Nate Muscat (Junior Offshore), Sellentin Family (Family Estuary), Cornell Family (Family Freshwater), OConnor Family (Family Offshore).

Not to be outshone, our ladies fished hard and showed what can be done.  Rumour has it there could be a ladies only fishing event coming to the region so fingers crossed that happens as there are now some excellent ladies events around the country.

How does it work?

A catch and release format, Mackay Isaac's Lucky Catch and Snap is a random draw competition. At 6pm each night from September 9 to October 8, a random draw will happen across the following three criteria:

1. A location – One of twenty locations across the Mackay and Isaac regions,

2. A species – A species that can be caught at that location (out of the 30 included in the competition), and

3. A length – Depending on the species, up to 120cm in length (to the nearest cm)

If a fish you caught and registered with us via the Lucky Catch and Snap mobile application that day is a match across all three criteria, you win the cash!!

Each day there will be $1,000 up for grabs. If the prize for that day isn’t won, then it jackpots all the way up to a maximum of $30,000 on the final day.

In addition to the Daily Draw amount, there will be three Super Draw days (to be announced on the website and the app at 5am on the morning of each), when an additional $25,000 will be on offer!
